The K.C. Mahindra Education Trust (KCMET) has awarded ₹337 Lakh in scholarships to 90 exceptional students under the K.C. Mahindra Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies Abroad. Established in 1953 by the late K.C. Mahindra, this scholarship was the Trust’s first initiative and provides interest-free loans to students with outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements.
The top three recipients, Raj Patel, Asmita Sood, and Savalee Tikle, will each receive ₹10 Lakh. Raj Patel will pursue Finance at Princeton University, Asmita Sood will study Biomedical Data Science at Stanford University, and Savalee Tikle will focus on Architecture at Harvard University. Additionally, 55 students will receive ₹5 Lakh each, and 32 students will receive ₹1 Lakh each to support their education abroad. Notably, for the first time, every student who attended the interview received a scholarship, highlighting the exceptional quality of this year’s cohort. The Trust received 2354 applications this year, with 90 applicants attending interviews over two days. The distinguished selection panel included Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra Group; Ranjan Pant, Board Member at Mahindra & Mahindra; Rucha Nanavati, Chief Information Officer at Mahindra Group; Bharat Doshi, Trustee of K.C. Mahindra Education Trust; Ulhas Yargop, Trustee of K.C. Mahindra Education Trust; and Dr. Indu Shahani, President and Chancellor of ATLAS SkillTech University.
The shortlisted candidates included 29 IIT graduates, with the remainder from premier institutions such as SRCC, LSR, Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture & Environmental Studies, NITs, BITS Pilani, and National Law Schools. These candidates have secured admission to top-ranking universities and colleges overseas, including 13 each at Harvard and Stanford; 8 at Carnegie Mellon; 6 each at Oxford and the University of Pennsylvania; 5 each at Columbia and MIT; and 3 each at Yale, University of Chicago, Johns Hopkins, and Cambridge. Additionally, 2 students each were admitted to Princeton, Georgia Tech, and the University of California, Berkeley, among others.
