Abu Dhabi Launches SteerAI to Transform Industrial Vehicles into Autonomous Motors

VentureOne, the commercialization arm of the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), has introduced SteerAI, an AI-driven advanced mobility system designed to convert standard industrial vehicles into autonomous machines. Targeting both the logistics and defense sectors, SteerAI employs a combination of hardware kits, software stacks, and fleet management systems to enable autonomous ground vehicles to execute complex missions with precision and efficiency, thereby conserving time and resources while enhancing safety for personnel. The technology behind SteerAI has been developed by experts at the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), the ATRC’s applied research division.

HE Faisal Al Bannai, Advisor to the UAE President and Secretary General of ATRC, stated, “The launch of SteerAI marks a pivotal step in reinforcing the UAE’s leadership in autonomous technology. At ATRC, our vision is to continually innovate, and SteerAI exemplifies our commitment to transforming pioneering research into practical solutions that yield significant impact.”

Najwa Aaraj, CEO of TII, remarked, “We haven’t just created an autonomous vehicle; we’ve developed the ‘brain’ of one. Our advanced navigation algorithms work in tandem with cutting-edge sensors within a modular system that can adapt to any vehicle, revolutionizing mobility.”

Vehicles powered by SteerAI will navigate efficiently between points with minimal downtime. The software integrates with sensors to enable rapid hazard responses, obstacle avoidance, and reliable operation in challenging environments and unmapped areas.

In addition to enabling full autonomy, SteerAI’s software supports remote fleet management, offering mission planning, monitoring, and data-driven analytics for optimal vehicle performance and deployment.

Reda Nidhakou, Acting CEO of VentureOne, emphasized, “The launch of SteerAI is a significant milestone in our mission to leverage advanced technologies for positive impact. The mobility needs in logistics and defense are demanding, complex, and costly. Our vehicle-agnostic autonomous system enhances operational efficiency and precision while safeguarding the most valuable asset—employees. We aim to empower our partners to transform their operations through technology.”

Steria is the second company launched by Venture One, following AI71, which was established in November 2023 to develop enterprise solutions using TII’s Falcon generative AI models.
