FPT and DENSO Sign MOU to Drive Innovation in Software-Defined Vehicles

Global IT Corporation FPT and the leading automotive components manufacturer DENSO have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly advance the development of software-defined vehicles (SDVs). This partnership will focus on creating cutting-edge software solutions for the next generation of SDVs, with a strong emphasis on mass-production projects for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Both companies aim to establish a robust, high-speed, and high-quality global development framework, with an ambitious plan to expand the scope of their collaboration by the end of 2027.

The MOU highlights FPT’s extensive expertise in the automotive sector, with over two decades of experience and a dedicated global team of 5,000 automotive software engineers. FPT’s deep commitment to the automotive industry is further demonstrated by the establishment of FPT Automotive in 2023. Through this partnership with DENSO, FPT aims to significantly contribute to the evolution of the automotive industry, particularly in the realm of software-driven innovations that enhance vehicle intelligence, connectivity, and safety.

As part of the collaboration, FPT and DENSO will set up an offshore development center that will focus on human resource development and specialized training. FPT will provide its top-tier AI engineers and technical resources, while DENSO will contribute by formulating a comprehensive joint development plan. The partnership will also include personnel exchanges and the establishment of training platforms, ensuring that both companies can foster a highly skilled and well-equipped workforce capable of driving the future of SDV technology.

Dr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of FPT Corporation, shared his vision for the partnership: “The automotive industry is at the crossroads of innovation, where the future of mobility is being defined by software, intelligence, and connectivity. Together with DENSO, we are co-creating the next generation of AI-first SDVs—smarter, safer, and more connected than ever before. This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to fostering global innovation and building a sustainable, tech-driven future for the automotive industry.”

The partnership between FPT and DENSO is not a new development, as the two companies have a history of collaboration dating back to 2017. Initially, the focus of their partnership was on providing IT services and developing internal systems for DENSO Japan. Over time, the collaboration expanded to DENSO’s operations in the United States, further solidifying their global partnership. A significant milestone in their collaboration was FPT’s successful leadership in the digital transformation of DENSO’s factory in Vietnam. This project has since set a benchmark for innovation and was scaled to DENSO’s other factories across Asia, demonstrating the effectiveness of their joint efforts.

DENSO, a renowned global supplier of automotive technology, has long been a leader in the development of advanced automotive systems. The company is known for its innovations in areas such as vehicle electrification, ADAS, and in-vehicle networking. By collaborating with FPT, DENSO seeks to accelerate the evolution of SDVs, which are expected to redefine the automotive landscape in the coming years.

As the automotive industry continues to evolve, software-defined vehicles are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of mobility. These vehicles rely heavily on software and artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance various aspects of driving, from autonomous driving capabilities to real-time vehicle diagnostics. With software taking on a more central role in the design and functionality of vehicles, automakers are increasingly turning to software solutions that can ensure these vehicles remain secure, connected, and capable of adapting to new technologies and user needs.

FPT’s involvement in the software development for SDVs is part of a broader strategy to position the company as a leader in the digital transformation of the automotive industry. As part of its vision, FPT is committed to developing innovative solutions that will help automakers address the challenges of creating vehicles that are not only smarter and more connected but also safer and more sustainable.

In addition to the creation of software for SDVs, the partnership will also focus on advancing AI-driven technologies, which are expected to play an essential role in the future of autonomous and connected vehicles. Both companies recognize the importance of AI in enabling the next generation of SDVs, and their joint efforts will leverage the strengths of each organization to bring about innovations that could shape the future of the automotive industry.
