The Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) has announced the launch of SteerAI through its commercialization arm, VentureOne. This innovative venture introduces an advanced mobility system powered by AI, designed to convert standard industrial vehicles into autonomous powerhouses. Initially targeting the logistics and defense sectors, SteerAI utilizes a comprehensive hardware kit, software stack, and fleet management system that enables autonomous ground vehicles to execute complex missions with remarkable precision and efficiency, thereby saving time and resources while safeguarding human workers. The technology behind SteerAI was developed by experts at the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), the applied research arm of ATRC.
H.E. Faisal Al Bannai, Adviser to the UAE President and Secretary General of ATRC, stated, “The launch of SteerAI marks a significant milestone in reinforcing the UAE’s leadership in autonomous technology. At ATRC, our vision is to constantly push the limits of innovation, and SteerAI exemplifies our commitment to transforming groundbreaking research into real-world solutions that create meaningful impact.”
Dr. Najwa Aaraj, CEO of TII, added, “We haven’t just developed an autonomous vehicle; we’ve created the ‘brain’ for autonomous vehicles. Our advanced navigation algorithms work in conjunction with state-of-the-art sensors as part of a modular system that can be integrated into any vehicle, potentially revolutionizing our methods of transportation.”
Vehicles equipped with SteerAI’s system will operate with consistency and accuracy between navigation points, experiencing minimal downtime. The software stack collaborates with sensors to enable vehicles to react quickly to hazards, navigate obstacles, and function smoothly even in challenging environmental conditions and unmapped regions.
Beyond facilitating fully autonomous mobility, SteerAI’s software also supports remote fleet management, offering mission planning, monitoring, and data-driven analytics to ensure optimal vehicle deployment and performance.
“Launching SteerAI signifies a major milestone in our efforts to create a positive impact through advanced technologies,” remarked Reda Nidhakou, Acting CEO of VentureOne. “The mobility demands in logistics and defense are intense, complex, and costly. Our vehicle-agnostic autonomous system redefines operational efficiency and precision while safeguarding companies’ most valuable asset—their people. Our mission is to leverage technology to help our partners transform their operations.”
SteerAI is the second venture launched by VentureOne, following AI71, which debuted in November 2023 and focuses on creating business solutions utilizing TII’s Falcon generative AI models.
