In a significant move aimed at strengthening Germany’s fast-growing electric mobility ecosystem, EnBW and charging infrastructure manufacturer XCHG Limited, operating under the brand XCharge (Nasdaq: XCH), have entered into a long-term framework agreement. The multi-year partnership is designed to reinforce EnBW’s strategic diversification within the e-mobility sector while marking an important milestone in XCharge’s successful expansion into the German market.

The agreement focuses on deploying ultra-high-performance charging infrastructure and jointly advancing both hardware and software solutions to meet the rapidly evolving demands of electric vehicle drivers. Since December 2025, ten XCharge C7 Ultra-Fast Chargers have been deployed across four strategic EnBW locations. Two of the units were installed at EnBW City in Stuttgart, while additional sites included a location along the A8 motorway in Rutesheim, the Durlach Center in Karlsruhe, and Karlsruhe’s central railway station.

Each charger delivers up to 400 kW of power, placing them among the highest performance class charging systems currently available. Over the course of the test phase, the stations collectively supported more than 20,000 charging sessions, demonstrating high operational reliability and performance stability under diverse usage conditions.

The field trial validated not only charging speed but also durability, system integration capabilities, and user interaction efficiency. These real-world results formed the technical and operational foundation for the long-term agreement.

The new framework agreement covers procurement of both hardware and software solutions from XCharge, with a focus on 400 kW charging systems and potentially higher output technologies in the future. Importantly, the companies will collaborate on joint development initiatives, combining EnBW’s network expertise with XCharge’s engineering capabilities.

As part of the agreement, EnBW will also receive exclusive access to certain upcoming product developments from XCharge, giving the energy provider a technological edge in deploying next-generation fast-charging solutions.

Scaling Germany’s Largest Fast-Charging Network

EnBW already operates the country’s largest fast-charging network under the EnBW HyperNet brand. With more than 8,000 fast-charging points currently in operation across Germany, the company has positioned itself as a central pillar of the national EV infrastructure landscape.

However, its ambitions extend significantly further. EnBW plans to expand its network to as many as 20,000 fast-charging points by 2030. Achieving this scale requires not only capital investment but also strong industrial partnerships capable of delivering high-performance hardware at scale.

The first new fast-charging parks featuring XCharge systems are expected to enter the implementation phase within weeks. These installations will likely serve as flagship examples of the next generation of ultra-fast charging parks, combining high output, advanced software integration, and robust grid connectivity.

As EV battery capacities increase and charging speeds become a decisive purchasing factor for consumers, the deployment of 400 kW—and potentially higher—charging infrastructure ensures that EnBW remains aligned with future vehicle technology trends.

XCharge Strengthens Its European Footprint

For XCharge, the agreement with EnBW solidifies its position within the European charging infrastructure ecosystem. Headquartered in Hamburg and Austin, Texas, the company operates across key global markets while maintaining a strong European presence.

Further strengthening its European commitment, XCharge is establishing a production facility in Valencia, Spain.
