Ford BlueCruise Now Usable in 17 Countries

Ford BlueCruise hands-free highway driving technology can now be used in a total of 15 European countries, following approval by the European Commission.

This approval unlocks access to over 82,744 miles of designated highways, called Blue Zones, across Europe, allowing customers to enjoy road trips across multiple countries. Imagine the possibilities for a customer using BlueCruise across six countries—from Sweden to Italy—covering almost 1,864 miles and more than 25 hours of hands-free driving.

With this expansion, BlueCruise is now available to Ford customers in 17 countries globally, including the U.S. and Canada, as well as Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden.

BlueCruise has gained significant momentum globally over the past year. In 2023, it became the first system of its kind to gain regulatory approval in Great Britain, becoming the first advanced driver assistance system to deliver true hands-free driving at highway speeds in Europe. Ford also became the first automaker to receive approval in Spain and introduce hands-free highway driving there. BlueCruise has also rolled out to customers in Germany.

BlueCruise helps customers arrive at their destinations less fatigued and more energized, whether on their daily commute in stop-and-go traffic or during long road trips. According to AAA, people spend an average of one hour each day driving, which can be tiring, stressful, and physically draining.

This year, Ford has expanded the availability of BlueCruise in North America to more electric, hybrid, and gas-powered Ford and Lincoln vehicles, including the 2025 Ford Explorer and 2025 Lincoln Aviator SUVs. With Aviator deliveries beginning this summer, all Lincoln U.S. models will have available BlueCruise.

Owners in the U.S. have shared how BlueCruise is transforming their drive time. For example, F-150 Lightning owner Peter Lamarine said, “BlueCruise changed what was a completely boring, monotonous ride to something that is now enjoyable. The worst part of my day is work, and the best part is driving to and from work.”

There are more than 420,000 BlueCruise-equipped Ford and Lincoln vehicles on the road globally. Customers in the U.S. and Canada have spent over 3.1 million hours using BlueCruise and have driven more than 213 million hands-free miles, which is farther than a round trip from Earth to the sun.
