Ford Pro™, Ford Motor Company’s commercial division, is rolling out the Ford Pro Smart Charging Bundle in California, a major market for commercial fleets.
Charging electric vehicle fleets can be challenging. The Ford Pro Smart Charging Bundle is designed to assist California businesses with electric vehicles by streamlining operations and cutting both initial and ongoing charging costs. The bundle includes a complimentary Ford Pro Level 2 48-amp charger or a Level 2 80-amp charger for depot and workplace use for businesses that subscribe to Ford Pro Charging software.
Transitioning to electric vehicles offers more than environmental benefits—it also improves the bottom line. The all-electric E-Transit™ eliminates gasoline use and has an estimated 48 percent lower maintenance cost compared to the gas-powered 2024 Transit®1. The smart charging software enables businesses to schedule charging during off-peak hours, reducing utility costs.
Ford Pro’s new automated demand-to-grid response solution in its Charging Software addresses high local demand events in California by automatically pausing and resuming charging based on grid conditions. This helps alleviate pressure on the grid and minimizes the risk of brownouts and blackouts, contributing to a more stable power system. Ford Pro will also handle enrollment in California grid demand response programs, which manage grid capacity, energy programs, emergency loads, and the Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) carbon credits program.
“California is leading the way in EV adoption, with regulations designed to accelerate the transition for businesses,” said Ted Cannis, Ford Pro CEO. “We are committed to simplifying the electrification process, enhancing productivity, and optimizing efficiency as companies integrate EVs into their fleets. Our smart charging software supports effective charging management, from avoiding peak electricity rates to participating in grid events.
Ford Pro offers a seamless, always-on, connected experience for commercial and government customers with its all-encompassing suite of solutions. This includes vehicles, charging infrastructure, software, financing, fleet management, and service.
As the top global brand in commercial vehicles and America’s best-selling line of commercial vehicles for 39 consecutive years,2 Ford continues to lead with its BUILT FORD TOUGH® trucks and vans, all integrated with Ford Pro’s advanced software and services.
