Geely recently hosted a new product launch event in Almaty, Kazakhstan, to introduce the Okavango, a spacious 7-seat SUV designed for family travel and versatile use scenarios. This model not only enhances the family travel experience in terms of comfort and companionship for Kazakh automotive users but also expands Geely Auto’s product lineup in Kazakhstan.
This event marked Geely’s first use of multi-platform live streaming, attracting over 10,000 online viewers. A total of 274 partners, business representatives, media influencers, and guest users attended the launch, witnessing the debut of Geely Auto’s first 7-seat SUV in Kazakhstan and experiencing the diverse lifestyle offered by the Okavango through test drives and outdoor activities.
Kazakh car blogger Timur Mustafaev praised the new model after his test drive, stating, “The Okavango offers users the opportunity to share precious moments with their families during travels. With Kazakhstan’s vast and diverse landscapes, the Okavango’s ample power and spacious interior make it perfect for family adventures, exploring the country’s beauty.” The Okavango features a unique 7-seat (2+3+2) layout with 32 possible seat combinations, emphasizing comfort for all passengers, including generous head, leg, and shoulder space for third-row passengers. When the second and third-row seats are fully folded down, the Okavango offers a maximum cargo space of 2360 liters, catering to various outdoor needs such as camping.
The Okavango ensures a high-performance driving experience with unparalleled comfort and stability in both city and mountain environments, thanks to its independent front and rear suspension system. It also prioritizes safety with a comprehensive set of features, including six airbags, Blind Spot Detection (BSD), and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).
Kay Yang, Geely Auto International’s Country Manager in Kazakhstan, emphasized the importance of the Kazakh market in Geely’s Central Asian strategy. “Since officially entering the Kazakh market in December 2022, our market share and brand ranking have rapidly increased with 16 Geely Centers opening in 11 cities.”
Currently, Geely offers six models in Kazakhstan: the Emgrand, Monjaro, Atlas, Coolray, Tugella, and the newly launched Okavango. The introduction of the Okavango has garnered significant attention from Kazakhstani consumers, injecting new vitality into Geely’s ongoing development in the region.
