The Green Mobility Hall at the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) brings together leading local and international companies specializing in sustainable mobility, transport, and green logistics. The Green Mobility Hall highlights cutting-edge solutions and practices that utilize the latest technologies in both individual and public sustainable transport. These innovations aim to lower operational and infrastructure costs for electric vehicles (EVs), enhance energy and resource efficiency in transportation, and promote the use of hydrogen and low-emission or carbon-free fuels.
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) will host the 26th edition of WETEX from October 1 to 3, 2024, at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
WETEX supports key national initiatives such as the National Electric Vehicles Policy, the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030, and the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy. It also highlights the UAE’s leadership in the region’s adoption of EVs, with one of the highest ratios of charging stations to EVs globally. WETEX serves as a global platform to showcase the latest advancements in energy, water, and the environment, as well as other sectors that contribute to net-zero targets and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
According to the Sixth Assessment Report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the transport sector contributes 23% of net global GHG emissions annually, generating 8.7 gigatons of CO2 equivalent. WETEX plays a crucial role in advancing national and international climate goals, helping to reduce the carbon footprint in transport and accelerate climate action, said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA and Founder and Chairman of WETEX.
Al Tayer added, “WETEX strengthens DEWA’s commitment to promoting green and sustainable mobility, while reinforcing the UAE and Dubai’s leadership in sustainable transportation across the region. DEWA’s EV Green Charger initiative, launched in 2014, established the region’s first public charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. Currently, Dubai’s advanced green charging network includes more than 700 stations, with around 400 operated by DEWA. This number will continue to grow in the coming years.
