GWM and Vietnam’s TAG have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) assembly project, advancing GWM’s “Global Ecosystem” strategy by expanding its global production and supply network. The signing ceremony was attended by Parker Shi, President of GWM International, Vice President Cui Xiaohui, and TAG Chairman Nguyen Quoc Hoan, along with other senior executives. They discussed future cooperation, aiming to leverage their respective strengths to grow the market jointly.
GWM entered the Vietnamese market in August 2023, and the factory is set to achieve localized production and sales by the end of 2025. This move aligns with GWM’s shift towards “localized production,” focusing on building overseas manufacturing capabilities rather than relying solely on exports. This strategy supports the high-quality development of its overseas operations, contributing to the company’s global production network. GWM now operates under a “dual-wheel drive” model with both domestic and international operations, featuring a global production layout of “10+3+N,” which includes 10 factories in China, 3 overseas factories, and multiple KD (Knock Down) facilities around the world.
To further boost its overseas production capacity, GWM has prioritized KD factory projects as a key strategy, supplementing its full-process factories. Earlier this year, GWM’s KD factory in Uzbekistan began operations. Additional factories in Ecuador, Pakistan, and Ghana are already operational, with new projects in Indonesia, Malaysia, and other countries expected to start production soon. These developments will help GWM rapidly expand its overseas production network and better meet international market demands.
GWM is currently experiencing strong global growth. From January to August this year, the company sold 280,139 vehicles overseas, marking a 54.2% year-on-year increase. In August alone, overseas sales reached 40,454 units, up 31.6% compared to the previous year, setting a new monthly record. To support its growing international demand, GWM will continue adhering to its “root locally, serve locally” principle, aiming to deliver high-quality products and services through localized production, accelerating its global expansion.
