Haig Partners Advises on Sale of Bosak Auto Group, Marking Largest Dealership Transaction of 2025

Haig Partners Guides Sale of Bosak Auto Group, the Largest U.S. Dealership Transaction of 2025

Haig Partners LLC, a leading buy-sell advisory firm serving auto, heavy truck, and RV dealers across the United States, announced it acted as the exclusive sell-side advisor in the sale of Bosak Auto Group. The transaction, completed in two separate deals with Victory Automotive Group and the Graff Family of Dealerships, marks the largest auto dealership group sale in the country so far in 2025—and is considered the most valuable dealership transaction ever completed in Indiana.

Founded over a century ago, Bosak Auto Group is a third-generation, family-owned business deeply rooted in Northwest Indiana. What began as a humble operation by John Bosak—a coal miner with a knack for fixing cars—grew over the decades into a multi-brand dealership network recognized for its customer-first approach and strong community involvement. Since John opened the first Bosak dealership in 1926, the company has expanded steadily under the leadership of his grandchildren Greg, Skip, Theresa, and their late brother Cary, a 2022 TIME Dealer of the Year nominee.

At the time of the sale, Bosak Auto Group operated nine franchises across Indiana, representing a diverse range of automakers: two Chevrolet stores, Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge-Ram, Ford, GMC, Honda (two stores), Kia, Nissan, and Toyota. These dealerships were located in key cities such as Highland, Merrillville, Chesterton, and Michigan City.

Strategic Sale to Two Buyer Groups

The sale was structured as two distinct transactions to better align with buyer preferences and maximize value. Haig Partners worked closely with the Bosak family to evaluate and position the group for optimal returns.

Victory Automotive Group acquired four of Bosak’s stores:

  • Bosak Honda in Highland
  • Bosak Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram in Merrillville
  • Bosak Nissan in Chesterton
  • Bosak Honda of Michigan City

Victory Automotive Group, a prominent player in the U.S. retail auto landscape, now owns 58 dealerships across ten states and has continued expanding its national footprint through targeted acquisitions.

The second transaction involved the Graff Family of Dealerships, in partnership with two of their general managers, Jerry Eluskie and Brandon Banks. This group acquired the remaining Bosak stores:

  • Bosak Chevrolet in Chesterton
  • Bosak Ford in Chesterton
  • Bosak Kia in Chesterton
  • Bosak Toyota in Chesterton
  • Bosak Chevrolet-GMC in Michigan City

Based in Michigan, the Graff Family of Dealerships operates nine existing dealerships and has built a strong regional reputation for operational excellence and employee-focused culture. Their acquisition of the Bosak locations marks their expansion into Indiana.

A Legacy Decision Years in the Making

For Greg, Skip, and Theresa Bosak, the decision to sell was not taken lightly. “It was a difficult decision for my brother, sister and me to sell our family business that dates back generations, but we realized it was the right choice for us and our children,” said Greg Bosak, former President of Bosak Auto Group.

He acknowledged the long-standing relationships and internal leadership built over the decades. “We want to thank Jed Jordan who was a loyal partner to us for many years. And we are grateful for the advice and services that Alan Haig, Derek Garber, and the team at Haig Partners provided to us. It’s not simple to sell nine dealerships representing eight different OEMs,” he added.

Greg also praised Haig Partners’ ability to guide the family through the complexities of a multi-franchise divestiture. “We had been in touch with Haig for years before we asked them for insights into the value of our business, and they kept us up to speed on the status of the buy-sell market. They lived up to their reputation of being honest and highly effective, and we liked their style of under-promising and over-delivering. Alan has a calm way of delivering advice that helped us navigate some tricky issues that came up along the way.”

Legal support during the transactions was provided by Ron Smith of Stoll Keenan Ogden PLLC, who was also recognized for his expert handling of the legal aspects across both deals.

Haig Partners’ Strategic Role

Alan Haig, President of Haig Partners, emphasized the significance of the transaction both in terms of size and legacy. “It was an honor and a pleasure to advise the Bosak Family and Jed Jordan on the sale of Bosak Auto Group. We began working with them several years ago, and I am thankful they trusted us to help them achieve their objectives.”

Haig highlighted the strength and diversity of the Bosak portfolio, noting that the presence of two Honda stores and a Toyota dealership made the group particularly attractive to national buyers. “We believe that the sale of the Bosak Auto Group was the largest and most valuable group ever sold in Indiana and the largest dealership group in the U.S. to have sold so far in 2025,” he said.

By dividing the group between Victory and Graff, Haig Partners was able to tailor the offerings to match each buyer’s strengths and market goals. “To maximize value for the Bosaks, we chose to divide the group into two parts that better fit the preferences of the buyers we selected,” Haig explained.

Continued Demand in the Auto Retail Market

Despite evolving trends in mobility, electrification, and digital retailing, demand for high-performing dealership groups remains strong. Haig underscored that well-run dealership businesses continue to attract interest from strategic buyers seeking high-return, low-risk investments. “We continue to see high levels of demand for dealerships as buyers see that they provide high returns on investment and are resistant to risks like economic cycles and technology disruption.”

Haig Partners’ ability to close such a complex, high-value transaction reflects its growing reputation as one of the industry’s most trusted M&A advisory firms. The firm has been instrumental in brokering many of the largest auto dealership sales in recent years, helping family-owned businesses transition to new ownership while honoring their legacy.

The End of an Era—and a New Chapter

The Bosak family’s exit from retail automotive marks the end of a remarkable legacy that spanned nearly a century. From humble beginnings in the 1920s to a nine-dealership operation representing some of the world’s leading automotive brands, the Bosak Auto Group has been a fixture in Indiana’s auto retail community.

For the Victory and Graff groups, the acquisition offers a chance to build on Bosak’s strong market presence and continue delivering outstanding customer experiences across Northern Indiana.

For Haig Partners, the transaction once again showcases the firm’s ability to match the right buyers with legacy sellers, crafting bespoke deal structures that maximize value and ensure a smooth transition.

As the U.S. auto retail landscape continues to evolve, transactions like the sale of Bosak Auto Group underscore the critical role that strategic advisory firms like Haig Partners play in shaping the next era of dealership ownership.
