Invisible Urban Charging (IUC), a top provider of charging-as-a-service solutions, has announced a strategic partnership with Hudson Valley Parking Trust (HVPT), the recent acquirer of ICON Parking. Together, they will deploy 5,000 electric vehicle (EV) chargers across New York City. This partnership represents a significant leap toward the city’s sustainable future, combining IUC’s innovative charging model with HVPT’s extensive parking network.
New York State has seen a remarkable 660% increase in EV ownership over the past five years, highlighting the swift shift toward electric mobility. To achieve carbon neutrality by 2030, New York City aims to convert 400,000 conventional vehicles to EVs.
Nigel Broomhall, CEO of IUC, commented, “This partnership is transformative for New York City. Despite the high cost of space, establishing a comprehensive EV charging network is essential to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles.”
HVPT Chairman and CEO Jerry Skillett stated, “Deploying 5,000 EV chargers with IUC is a major advancement in meeting New Yorkers’ needs and differentiates ICON Parking. This project builds on our strong relationship with IUC, a leader in the EV sector.”
The installation of 5,000 chargers supports New York City’s goal of carbon neutrality by 2030 and aligns with the state’s rapid EV adoption. With IUC’s track record in high-density charging solutions and HVPT’s extensive parking assets, this partnership is set to drive significant EV adoption in the city.
IUC’s collaborations with global real estate leaders JLL and CBRE further bolster its position in EV infrastructure. These partnerships support IUC’s ambitious goal of deploying one million EV chargers nationwide over the next five years.
