Lyft, one of North America’s leading transportation networks, has unveiled multiple new partnerships aimed at integrating autonomous vehicles (AVs) into its platform, bringing AV rides to its vast community of riders. Today, Lyft takes another significant step in making AV technology widely accessible.
In collaboration with Mobileye, a frontrunner in autonomous driving technology and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), Lyft will open its platform to vehicles equipped with Mobileye Drive. This partnership allows both small and large fleet operators to access Lyft’s network seamlessly, optimizing vehicle usage for a broad market. Mobileye-equipped AVs will soon be “Lyft-ready,” giving riders and fleet operators new access to the latest in self-driving innovation.
Beyond its alliance with Mobileye, Lyft is advancing other areas of the AV ecosystem with partnerships involving May Mobility and Nexar.
May Mobility will begin deploying AVs directly on Lyft’s platform in Atlanta by 2025. Through this initiative, Atlanta riders will be able to book autonomous Toyota Sienna minivans integrated with May Mobility’s technology. Lyft and May Mobility plan to expand this deployment to multiple markets over time.
Lyft’s partnership with Nexar will focus on improving AV technology by combining Lyft’s data with Nexar’s extensive video footage. By aggregating and anonymizing fleet data, both companies will contribute to a richer data pool for autonomous research and development, enhancing the technology’s safety and efficiency.
“We’re thrilled to work with Mobileye, May Mobility, and Nexar to build the autonomous future together, with more partnerships to follow,” said Lyft CEO David Risher. “Our rideshare network will create new opportunities, allowing millions of people to earn billions of dollars whether they choose to drive, put their AVs into service, or both.”
Mobileye’s President and CEO, Prof. Amnon Shashua, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the role of collaboration: “Partnering with mobility providers like Lyft is essential to make autonomous services a reality. Mobileye Drive and Lyft’s network will enable AV customers to reach new markets, bringing the benefits of autonomous technology to more people.”
With 40 million annual riders, Lyft’s platform offers AV partners a fast and scalable way to deploy their technology. Its “Lyft-ready” model is designed as a turnkey solution, allowing AV partners to seamlessly integrate, commercialize, and optimize vehicle usage on the platform.
