New-Generation Li Auto L6 Launches in China With 300 km EV Range, 260 kW Charging and Advanced Intelligent Driving
Li Auto has officially launched the new-generation Li L6, a comprehensively upgraded all-wheel-drive extended-range SUV aimed at the highly competitive RMB 250,000 market segment in China.
The new Li Auto L6 carries a unified national retail price of RMB 249,800 and is now available for ordering. Customers can experience the SUV at Li Auto retail centers across China or schedule a test drive through the Li Auto App.
Since its original launch in 2024, the Li Auto L6 has achieved sales of nearly 400,000 units, establishing itself as one of the leading models in China’s mid-to-large SUV segment. The new generation represents a comprehensive replacement rather than a minor facelift, retaining the familiar proportions and dimensions of the original model while receiving extensive upgrades to its exterior design, interior comfort, driving dynamics, range, charging performance, intelligent cockpit and driver-assistance technologies.
Li Auto describes the new L6 as an all-around flagship experience for the RMB 250,000 price category, with the goal of delivering strong performance across every major aspect of the vehicle rather than focusing on a single standout feature.
Li Auto Focuses on Eliminating the Previous Model’s Weaknesses
Li Xiang, Chairman and CEO of Li Auto, said the previous-generation Li L6 achieved a Product NPS, or Net Product Score, of 78.5. The model’s highest-rated strengths included driving experience, intelligent infotainment, exterior styling, passenger comfort and standard equipment.
However, customer feedback also identified several areas requiring improvement. These included the relatively limited 200 km pure-electric range, a charging time of approximately 30 minutes and shortcomings in intelligent driver assistance.
The new-generation Li Auto L6 has been developed specifically to address those concerns. The new model increases its CLTC pure-electric range to 300 km, supports much faster charging and introduces a significantly more advanced intelligent driving platform.
Li Auto’s goal is to ensure that no major aspect of the vehicle feels compromised. From ride comfort and cabin space to performance, charging, intelligence and everyday usability, the company says the new L6 is designed to deliver a balanced experience across the board.
Familiar SUV Proportions With a More Refined Exterior
The new-generation Li Auto L6 retains the overall dimensions of its predecessor. The SUV measures 4,935 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width and 1,735 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm.
Although the vehicle continues to feature the familiar luxury SUV proportions, Li Auto has significantly redesigned the front and rear sections to give the model a more sophisticated and premium appearance.
At the front, the new L6 features a smaller trapezoidal grille combined with a sportier lower front lip. The use of high-gloss black trim has also been increased, giving the front end a more dynamic appearance. New wind-blade-inspired styling details on the sides further strengthen the vehicle’s visual presence.
The rear section has also received significant changes. The license plate area has been repositioned above the tailgate, helping to change the visual balance of the rear from a 50/50 layout to a more dynamic 70/30 arrangement. This gives the vehicle a higher visual center of gravity and a more three-dimensional appearance.
The new floating star-ring taillights feature a cut-out design and three-dimensional lenses. During the daytime, the lenses create a more sculpted appearance, while at night they produce a distinctive layered lighting effect.
Li Auto has also replaced traditional ultrasonic radar components with a UWB high-precision near-field perception system. This eliminates the need for certain bumper vents and contributes to a cleaner overall exterior design.
Seven Exterior Colors and a New Black Appearance Package
The new Li Auto L6 offers seven exterior colors, making it the most extensive color selection in the company’s lineup.
The available colors include new Dune Yellow and Hyacinth Purple, along with Elephant Gray, Obsidian Black, Meteorite Gray, Pearl White and GT Silver.
For buyers seeking a sportier appearance, the new Obsidian Black package adds high-gloss black window trim, black rearview mirror bases and black wheels. The package gives the SUV a more aggressive and premium visual character.
The new-generation L6 also adopts conventional non-concealed door handles throughout the vehicle. According to Li Auto, this design meets the requirements of China’s upcoming 2027 national standards ahead of schedule.
The door system supports both electric and mechanical unlocking. In extreme situations, such as a power failure or collision, the doors can be opened mechanically, providing an additional layer of convenience and safety.
Power assistance is also standard on all four doors, enhancing the premium experience during everyday use.
A More Luxurious and Spacious Interior
Li Auto says a significant portion of the L6’s customer base consists of younger buyers born in the 1990s and 2000s. As a result, the company has placed considerable emphasis on improving the interior’s visual quality and everyday comfort.
The new cabin features a two-tone layered design with soft leather covering the major touch surfaces. Dark chrome elements are applied to areas such as the steering wheel, air vents and door handles, creating a more sophisticated appearance.
Three interior color themes are available: Snow White, Wilderness Brown and Amber Orange.
The front seats are among the major highlights of the new model. The SUV is equipped with full-size zero-gravity seats designed to provide a relaxed posture for occupants up to 1.8 metres tall. The seats also offer an 18-point kneading massage system covering the shoulders, neck, back and hips.
The cabin features a three-dimensional five-zone intelligent air-conditioning system. The driver and front passenger can independently adjust the temperature around their head and feet, while the second row receives its own independent climate zone.
Other interior features include a large vanity mirror with adjustable brightness and colour temperature. Four magnetic attachment points in the front row allow accessories such as tissue boxes to be installed conveniently without consuming traditional storage space.
Second-Row Comfort Designed for Long Journeys
The second row has been developed to provide a sofa-like level of comfort.
The seatbacks can recline to a maximum angle of 140 degrees, which Li Auto describes as class-leading. The full seatback can be adjusted to help occupants find a comfortable position while reducing shoulder pressure during extended reclining.
The second-row seat cushion measures 535 mm in length and has been designed to work with the reclining angle to reduce forward sliding. The armrests also provide improved support for passengers in a relaxed seating position.
High-density privacy curtains are fitted to the side windows, improving both privacy and cabin tranquillity.
Upgraded Chassis Delivers a More Engaging Driving Experience
Driving performance has traditionally been one of the strongest aspects of the Li Auto L6. According to Li Auto, driving experience received the highest satisfaction rating among existing owners.
The new-generation model builds on that reputation with a comprehensively upgraded chassis.
The suspension system uses a double-wishbone front layout and a five-link rear layout. Both ends feature extensive use of aluminium components, while redesigned bushings and springs are intended to improve handling response.
The SUV also introduces dual-valve continuously variable damping shock absorbers. Compared with the previous single-valve system, maximum compression damping has increased by 100%, while maximum rebound damping has improved by between 30% and 50%.
These upgrades are designed to improve body control on uneven roads while maintaining a comfortable ride.
The steering system has also been redesigned. Steering sensitivity has increased by 13.5%, providing a more direct response during urban driving and on winding roads.
Standard front and rear dual-motor intelligent all-wheel drive provides additional traction in challenging conditions, including rain, snow, mud, potholes and steep slopes.
Quieter Cabin and Faster Charging
Li Auto has also focused on improving cabin refinement.
The new L6 continues to use double-layer soundproof laminated glass, a double-layer soundproof panoramic roof and low-noise tyres. It now adds a four-point RNC road-noise cancellation system.
Using algorithms to reduce low-frequency noise transmitted through the road and chassis, the system is designed to create a quieter environment, particularly during long-distance driving.
The SUV is equipped with a 51 kWh battery pack. Its CLTC pure-electric range reaches 300 km, while the combined range is rated at 1,250 km.
The vehicle supports a peak charging power of 260 kW, allowing the battery to charge from 20% to 80% in just 12 minutes under suitable conditions.
Li Auto currently operates more than 4,100 supercharging stations in China, giving the company one of the largest self-built fast-charging networks among automakers.
The battery is also designed to retain more than 80% of its health after 3,000 full supercharging cycles, corresponding to a claimed driving distance of more than 500,000 km.
Mach Intelligent Driving Platform Adds Major Technology Upgrades
The new-generation Li Auto L6 introduces a significantly upgraded intelligent driver-assistance system based on Li Auto’s self-developed Mach M100 chip and Mach VLA driver model.
The Mach M100 uses a 5-nanometre automotive-grade manufacturing process and delivers 1,280 TOPS of computing power from a single chip. Li Auto says the chip achieves an actual operating efficiency of more than 82%.
The company also describes the Mach M100 as the world’s first mass-produced AI chip featuring a dynamic dataflow architecture.
The perception system includes a forward-facing ATL-P high-performance LiDAR, seven 8-megapixel cameras, four 3-megapixel surround-view cameras and a UWB high-precision near-field radar system.
Li Auto plans to introduce further upgrades to the Mach intelligent driving system by the end of July. These include faster responses when starting at green traffic lights and two new speed-preference modes.
Efficiency mode is intended for everyday commuting, while Comfort mode is designed for family journeys.
Parking functions will also be improved. The vehicle will be able to automatically identify suitable parking areas and use them as target parking spaces, helping to simplify the parking process.
More Powerful Intelligent Cockpit
The new-generation Li Auto L6 also receives a major upgrade to its digital cockpit.
The SUV is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8797 cockpit processor. Compared with the previous-generation Snapdragon 8295, CPU performance is claimed to be 1.8 times higher, GPU performance is 2.6 times higher and NPU performance is 3.5 times higher.
The processor works with a 29-inch integrated 6K panoramic display positioned in the front row, delivering a smoother and more responsive infotainment experience.
The new model also expands the vehicle’s digital capabilities beyond conventional infotainment.
Through a new collaboration with InSight, the L6 introduces an integrated shooting function. A quarter-inch threaded interface and a Type-C power interface are built into the rearview mirror area, allowing compatible recording equipment to be mounted inside the vehicle.
A dedicated in-car application supports camera control, parameter adjustments and full-screen video playback.
Recorded panoramic footage can be viewed on the 29-inch 6K display, allowing passengers to capture and replay memorable moments from road trips and family journeys.
The new L6 also introduces a Li Auto walkie-talkie function. Using mobile network signals, the system allows members of a convoy to communicate over unlimited distances and view the real-time locations of other vehicles, making group travel more convenient.
Standard Equipment and Optional Features
The new-generation Li Auto L6 comes standard with a broad range of equipment.
Key standard features include the 51 kWh battery, all-aluminium double-wishbone front suspension, five-link rear suspension and dual-valve continuously variable damping shock absorbers.
The SUV also includes five-zone intelligent climate control, quiet electric air vents, second-row privacy curtains, four-point RNC active noise cancellation and second-row seats with a maximum reclining angle of 140 degrees.
The technology package includes the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8797 cockpit chip, a 29-inch 6K panoramic display and the Mach M100 intelligent driving chip with 1,280 TOPS of computing power.
Other standard equipment includes intelligent ADB headlights, quiet electric suction doors and an intelligent electric refrigerator.
Optional equipment includes front dual zero-gravity seats with 18-point massage, a second-row entertainment package featuring a 21-inch 4K display and additional luxury features, a dual Mach intelligent package and an electric tow hook.
Pricing and Launch Benefits
The new-generation Li Auto L6 has a national retail price of RMB 249,800.
The standard exterior colours include Meteorite Gray, Pearl White and GT Silver. Dune Yellow, Hyacinth Purple, Elephant Gray and Obsidian Black are available as optional colours priced at RMB 6,000.
The factory-installed Obsidian Black package, which adds high-gloss black exterior trim and wheels, is available for RMB 2,000.
Customers who place an order before midnight on August 31, 2026, will receive limited-time launch benefits valued at RMB 28,000. These benefits include front dual zero-gravity seats, four special exterior colours and the Obsidian Black sports package.
