Paired Power Teams with California American Water for Microgrid EV Charging in San Diego

Paired Power, a leading U.S. solar microgrid manufacturer, has partnered with California American Water to provide resilient EV charging solutions that operate independently of the grid.

This collaboration features the installation of Paired Power’s solar EV charger, PairTree™, highlighting California American Water’s commitment to disaster preparedness, emission reduction, and improving local air quality and public health.

Tom McCalmont, CEO of Paired Power, expressed pride in the partnership: “We’re thrilled that California American Water selected Paired Power for their EV charging needs. Our PairTree system is designed with the future in mind, and it’s exciting to see it adopted by such a respected organization serving nearly 750,000 Californians.”

California American Water understands the importance of clean water for thriving businesses and communities. Investing in EV infrastructure aligns with their goals of enhancing public health and protecting the environment. Using PairTree to charge just one vehicle will prevent approximately 4,472 pounds of CO2 emissions annually—equivalent to the weight of a Tesla Model Y.

Kevin Tilden, President of California American Water, said, “We’re excited to partner with Paired Power on this project to cut our carbon footprint and reduce costs for our customers. This collaboration reflects our commitment to disaster preparedness, emission reduction, and improving air quality.”

Paired Power’s PairTree is a U.S.-made solar canopy that integrates solar power with grid power and battery storage for reliable day-and-night EV charging. It also provides emergency backup power during outages and reduces dependence on the grid.

The PairTree system can function as standalone solar power or as part of a microgrid with optional grid connection. Designed for durability, PairTree installation takes less than a day and fits into a standard 9 x 18 foot parking space. It features no moving parts and requires minimal maintenance, with wind resistance up to 130 mph, making it suitable for various weather conditions.
