Pioneer Power Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq: PPSI), a leader in electrical power systems, distributed energy resources, and mobile EV charging solutions, announced a groundbreaking collaboration with SparkCharge, Inc., a pioneering EV charging delivery service. This strategic partnership combines Pioneer’s off-grid, sustainable mobile EV charging solution, e-Boost, with SparkCharge’s innovative mobile battery energy storage systems and Charging as a Service (CaaS) model. The collaboration aims to accelerate the adoption of mobile EV charging solutions and drive technological advancements in the industry.
Pioneer will deliver up to 12 e-Boost rental units over the next 12 months, starting in the fourth quarter of 2024, with the company receiving both per kilowatt-hour usage fees and monthly rental fees. The companies will also co-develop new units that integrate Pioneer’s on-site generating power density with SparkCharge’s zero-emission, grid-free battery technology. Together, they plan to market their solutions to large fleet customers, offering a power-dense, integrated charging service.
Founded in 2017, SparkCharge has been a trailblazer in mobile EV charging and the CaaS model, leading the way in EV adoption across North America. Joshua Aviv, Founder and CEO of SparkCharge, emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, “Integrating our technology with Pioneer’s e-Boost technology advances our EV Charging-as-a-Service model and brings us closer to a more accessible and sustainable future for EV charging.”
Pioneer’s e-Boost, launched in November 2021, offers off-grid, on-demand EV charging solutions for various applications, including consumer vehicles, heavy-duty trucks, transit buses, school buses, and off-road vehicles. Pioneer believes this collaboration will revolutionize the EV charging industry by introducing a first-of-its-kind mobile Distributed Energy Resource (mDER), enhancing edge-to-grid capabilities and extending access to rural, underserved, and disaster-affected communities.
Geo Murickan, President of Pioneer eMobility, highlighted the partnership’s impact on the industry: “Our collaboration with SparkCharge reflects our commitment to innovation and shaping the future of mobile EV charging through cutting-edge solutions.”
The e-Boost and SparkCharge partnership will be showcased on October 6, 2024, at the Greater Washington Region Clean Cities Coalition’s (GWRCCC) 2024 Conference & Expo in Greenbelt, Maryland, where attendees can learn more about the future of EV charging and the expected transformative impact of this collaboration.
