Reliant and GM Energy Collaborate on EV Charging Plan to Boost Renewable Energy

Chevrolet electric vehicle (EV) owners now have a powerful new reason to plug in. Reliant and GM Energy have announced a groundbreaking electricity plan designed to drive sustainability forward. This collaboration offers free nighttime charging for Chevrolet EV drivers, reinforcing both companies’ commitment to advancing renewable energy and creating accessible, eco-friendly solutions.

“Our new plan allows Chevrolet EV drivers to offset the cost of charging their vehicles while enjoying the benefits of a renewable electricity plan,” said Rasesh Patel, president of NRG Consumer. “Reliant continues to deliver innovative solutions that make power personal for Texans.”

The Reliant Free Charge Nights plan is available through over 150 Chevrolet dealerships across Texas. Customers purchasing a Chevrolet EV can enroll in the plan to take advantage of free charging between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. The program is powered by 100% renewable energy, achieved through the purchase of renewable energy certificates (RECs) that match customer electricity usage.

“With Reliant, we’re shaping the future of EV charging and energy management,” said Aseem Kapur, chief revenue officer at GM Energy. “This partnership exemplifies how automakers and energy companies can collaborate to support an all-electric future. The Reliant Free Charge Nights plan makes EV adoption even more appealing and accessible.”

How It Works
The Reliant Free Charge Nights plan offers a monthly bill credit that covers all energy charges incurred during the designated free charging hours. To enroll, drivers must designate a Chevrolet EV in their GM Energy Smart Charging Portal before signing up for the plan. The program is open to both new and existing Reliant electricity customers.

Reliant, an NRG company, is a leading energy provider known for its customer-focused approach and innovative energy solutions.
