Salinas Honda, part of Del Grande Dealer Group (DGDG), Northern California’s largest family-owned auto group, recently gifted a 2024 Honda Civic Sport Sedan to breast cancer survivor Ernestina Valdes. Valdes won the car in a raffle to support the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life® of Salinas Valley, purchasing her ticket from her cousin Lupe Brambila, a fellow cancer survivor and dedicated volunteer. The raffle, which spanned 17 weeks, raised $52,000, contributing to a total of $554,000 raised by the event.
Valdes expressed gratitude not only for the prize but for the support provided by the American Cancer Society and her cousin Lupe, saying, “Winning this car is wonderful, but being part of an organization that supports survivors like me means even more.”
The Relay For Life® event in Salinas, started by former Salinas Honda owner Sam Linder in 1997, has now raised over $17.5 million. DGDG, through its charitable arm, DGDG Does Good, continues to support this event and others through financial contributions, collaborations, and employee volunteerism. To date, DGDG Does Good has donated over $1 million to various causes. DGDG CEO Jeremy Beaver shared, “Supporting our community is a core value, and we’re proud of the Salinas Honda team’s commitment to Relay For Life®.
