Tata Motors Redefines Mid-SUV Category with India’s First SUV Coupé Unveils the Tata Curvv

Defining a new era in SUV design, Tata Motors, India’s leading automotive manufacturer, unveiled the Tata Curvv ICE and EV today. Embodying a powerful philosophy of form and function, the Curvv stands as India’s first SUV Coupé. Showcasing a new-age SUV typology, the Curvv seamlessly merges the toughness and practicality of an SUV with the elegance and sporty silhouette of a coupé. Launching on August 7th, the all-new Curvv will adhere to Tata Motors’ robust multi-powertrain strategy, debuting first in its EV version, followed by its ICE counterpart.

Commenting on the unveil, Mr. Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said, “Tata Motors has pioneered the Indian SUV arena. We have repeatedly disrupted the category with innovative designs that deliver great road presence and enhanced functionality. The original Sierra, Safari, Nexon, Punch, and Harrier are testament to this design-led market leadership in SUVs. Continuing this legacy and further strengthening our SUV portfolio, we introduce the Tata Curvv – India’s first SUV Coupé – a disruptive design democratizing the coupé body style in the premium segment, providing best-in-segment performance and unprecedented practicality. Additionally, the Curvv is at the forefront of our multi-powertrain strategy, with options across Petrol, Diesel, and Electric powertrains. With the Curvv, we will cater to a wide variety of mid-SUV customers, offering them a fresh and delightfully designed product with premium performance.”

The Curvv is a perfect blend of captivating design, empowering practicality, and exhilarating performance. Its SUV coupé body style contrasts with the conventional boxy designs typical of the mid-SUV market. The strong aerodynamic theme from the concept show car is evident, with a bold front character carried throughout the vehicle. The raised ride height, robust cladding, and dynamic proportions add to its appeal. The Curvv’s sharply sloping roofline efficiently reduces wind resistance, while its large wheels, high approach and departure angles, and increased ground clearance provide a balanced and planted stance. The SUV coupé will debut in two new color shades: Virtual Sunrise for the Curvv.ev and Gold Essence for the Curvv ICE.

Designed with the Indian family in mind, especially those who enjoy long drives, the Curvv’s SUV coupé design features modern and uncluttered interiors that combine SUV functionalities with a spacious cabin without sacrificing storage space, as typically imagined in a coupé body style. The emphasis on premium appeal is evident in the integration of best-in-class technologies, a smart selection of colors, materials, and finishes. The panoramic glass roof allows natural light to flood the cabin, providing a sense of space and freedom. The reconfigured boot space meets customer needs, offering increased and accessible storage.

The Curvv offers powerful petrol and diesel engine options, as well as electric variants with best-in-class long driving range. Its body style ensures agility and excellent handling, promising a unique and sporty driving experience. Equipped with advanced infotainment, large screens, and connected car technology, the Curvv boasts several smart features previously unheard of in this segment and typically found in higher-segment vehicles. Furthermore, it continues Tata Motors’ legacy of safety, engineered to meet the strictest safety norms with a host of active and passive safety features.
