VicOne, a leader in automotive cybersecurity solutions, and Block Harbor, a trusted automotive cybersecurity engineering firm, are leading the Automotive Capture the Flag (CTF) 2024 competition. This high-stakes global event offers over $100,000 in prizes and aims to engage cybersecurity enthusiasts of all levels. The competition includes virtual qualifying rounds running through September 8, with in-person finals on October 21 and an Awards Ceremony on October 23 at the 2024 Auto-ISAC Cybersecurity Summit in Detroit, Michigan, where VicOne has established its U.S. operations.
The 2024 Automotive CTF is designed to help cybersecurity researchers, regardless of their automotive background, by providing online learning modules and access to previous CTF challenges. Participants can enhance their skills in automotive cybersecurity through practical, hands-on experience.
The 2023 Cybersecurity Workforce Study by ISc2 highlights a growing global cybersecurity workforce gap. Despite a 9% increase in cybersecurity professionals, the demand far exceeds the supply, with a current shortfall of around 4 million professionals. The Automotive CTF competition addresses this skills gap by bringing together novices and experts to expand their knowledge and expertise in the field.
“This competition fosters collaboration between the cybersecurity community and the automotive sector, creating opportunities for idea exchange and skill development,” said Max Cheng, CEO of VicOne. “It offers a platform for both seasoned professionals and newcomers to advance their skills in automotive cybersecurity.”
Brandon Barry, CEO of Block Harbor, added, “Our competition provides a unique stage for exceptional players and newcomers alike, tackling key challenges in vehicle cybersecurity through innovative CTF experiences.”
Block Harbor is managing the competition via its Vehicle Security Engineering Cloud (VSEC) platform, ensuring robust and relevant challenges. VicOne contributes expertise and guidance to align the event with industry standards.
