Voltera, a leading provider of charging infrastructure for zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) fleets, has acquired two new development sites, expanding its portfolio to 22 strategically located across California, Texas, Georgia, Arizona, and Florida. This growth highlights the company’s commitment to meeting the rising demand for sustainable transportation in the U.S.
The first site, an 0.85-acre parcel in Wilmington, CA, is located near the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles, key hubs for drayage operations. It will accommodate up to 30 electrified stalls, supported by a five-megawatt power supply from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. The site has also been granted $4.1 million in emission reduction grants and an exemption from a local truck use moratorium.
The second site, a 2.75-acre location in West Sacramento, CA, near I-5 and I-80, will feature 100 charging stalls with a one-megawatt power supply.
“These acquisitions mark a major step in supporting the electrification of commercial fleets,” said Sylvia Hendron, Voltera’s Chief Development Officer. Voltera Chairman Brett Hauser added that this growth reinforces the company’s dedication to overcoming site development challenges and accelerating ZEV fleet infrastructure deployment across the U.S.
Supported by EQT, Voltera has actively evaluated over 1,200 potential sites, focusing on strategic locations that ensure easy access to power near major freight routes. According to Dawn Fenton, Chairperson of Powering America’s Commercial Transportation, infrastructure for medium- and heavy-duty trucks is essential for a sustainable transition in the trucking sector, and Voltera’s efforts are key to meeting regulatory demands and electrification goals.
Voltera develops, owns, and operates strategically located, fit-for-purpose charging facilities to enable EV deployment and operation at scale. With equity backing from EQT and plans to invest billions in capital, alongside a team with deep experience deploying charging assets, proven critical infrastructure expertise, and key strategic partners, Voltera is uniquely positioned to help solve the EV infrastructure challenge and scale zero-emission transportation.
