WEX Expands EV Charging Network and Simplifies Fleet Payments with Lynkwell, Revel, and Ampcontrol Partnerships
WEX® (NYSE: WEX), a global commerce platform that streamlines complex financial and mobility operations for businesses, has announced a major expansion of its electric vehicle (EV) charging network in the United States. Through new strategic collaborations with charge point operators (CPOs) Lynkwell and Revel, alongside a payments integration with energy management platform Ampcontrol, WEX is broadening its footprint and reinforcing its commitment to enabling the next generation of fleet electrification.
The initiative brings hundreds of new charging stations into WEX’s growing network and enhances interoperability for fleet operators across the country. According to Carlos Carriedo, Chief Operating Officer for Americas Payments & Mobility at WEX, the expansion represents a pivotal step toward removing friction from the EV charging experience.
“By integrating our payment processing technology and syncing transaction details and RFID numbers from charging stations across multiple providers, we’re streamlining the EV charging experience and giving organizations the data they need to make smarter, more strategic operational decisions,” Carriedo explained.
This development underscores WEX’s broader vision of simplifying fleet operations by merging payment solutions with data-driven insights. The company’s EV charging network is just one element of a comprehensive ecosystem designed to help businesses manage mixed-energy fleets in a world where both internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and EVs will coexist for years to come.
A Unified Charging Experience for Mixed-Energy Fleets
WEX EV offers a suite of commercial charging solutions built to address the realities of fleet electrification. One of its flagship services, WEX EV En Route, allows drivers seamless access to over 150,000 public charging ports across the U.S. The network includes major providers such as EVgo, Blink, EV Connect, ChargePoint, FLO, AmpUp, EvGateway, and Noodoe, among others.
Access is simplified through the DriverDash™ mobile app or a universal WEX EV RFID card, all tied to a secure closed-loop payment system. For fleet managers, this means transactions are centralized, fraud risks are reduced, and operational oversight is enhanced.
By combining depot, at-home, and public charging under one integrated system, WEX is positioning itself as the only North American fleet management provider with comprehensive coverage across all charging scenarios.
Lynkwell: Expanding Reach Through Vertical Integration
The partnership with Lynkwell is particularly significant because it strengthens the link between energy infrastructure development and corporate-grade payment systems. Lynkwell, a fast-growing U.S.-based EV charging company, is unique in its vertically integrated model that connects renewable generation, battery storage, utilities, and microgrids with next-generation fueling technologies.
Through its Lynkwell XChange™ platform, the company provides advanced energy management tools and charging solutions. Its cloud-based EV charging software platform ranks among the top 10 nationwide, hosting dozens of EV charging networks and managing more than 10,000 assets.
By integrating with WEX, Lynkwell becomes the only fully U.S.-based EV charging provider offering WEX-level payment capabilities across its station networks.
Nick Bordeau, Vice President of Software Engineering at Lynkwell, emphasized the importance of the collaboration:
This partnership not only eases the pain points of en route charging through effortless access to extensive public networks and streamlined transaction insights but also minimizes operational complexities, fraud risks, and administrative burdens. Ultimately, this accelerates the shift toward sustainable mobility and helps our customers navigate the evolving energy landscape with confidence.”
For corporate fleets, the Lynkwell integration means smoother transitions from ICE vehicles to EVs, as payments and fleet management data are consolidated into a single platform.
Revel: Scaling Fast Charging in Urban Centers
While Lynkwell focuses on infrastructure integration, Revel has become a standout operator in urban EV charging, especially in dense markets like New York City and San Francisco. Initially known for its electric moped-sharing service and later its EV ride-hailing platform, Revel has shifted its strategy toward building and operating public fast-charging superhubs.
Revel’s sites feature high-power DC fast chargers ranging from 150 kW to 320 kW, capable of supporting all EV makes and models. In New York City, Revel operates the largest network of public fast chargers, catering to both individual drivers and commercial fleets.
With WEX integration, these chargers will now accept payments from WEX users, vastly expanding access for fleets that already rely on WEX cards for fuel and mobility management.
Frank Reig, CEO and Co-Founder of Revel, highlighted the benefits:
By integrating WEX’s secure payment technology into our network, we’re making it easier for commercial drivers to quickly access charging in dense urban markets like New York and San Francisco, while giving fleet managers the transparency and control they need over transactions. Together, we’re reducing operational friction, supporting the shift to electric fleets, and helping cities move toward a cleaner transportation future.”
This partnership strengthens Revel’s positioning as not just a charging provider, but a key enabler of urban EV adoption.
Ampcontrol: Optimizing Energy Management with AI
The third pillar of WEX’s expansion is its integration with Ampcontrol, an AI-powered energy management platform tailored for EV fleets and charging hubs. Ampcontrol’s software connects to all energy assets—chargers, vehicles, and on-site energy storage systems—to orchestrate operations in real time.
Through dynamic load management, Ampcontrol enables operators to reduce energy and peak-demand costs while maintaining high reliability. For example, its partnership with Revel has already delivered up to 45% reductions in energy costs while ensuring near-perfect charger uptime.
Ampcontrol’s CEO, Joachim Lohse, noted that reliability and cost management remain two of the industry’s biggest challenges:
By integrating Ampcontrol with WEX, we’re enabling customers like Revel to expand fast charging access across cities and to local fleet operators. With WEX as the leading fuel card solution in North America, we can now extend this benefit to all our customers—unlocking access to major fleet operators and accelerating the transition to electrification.”
This integration ensures that WEX’s customers not only have access to charging locations but also to an optimized and efficient charging experience, further driving down total cost of ownership for EV fleets.
Building on Recent Momentum
The new partnerships come just months after WEX launched WEX EV Depot in April 2025. This solution offers fleets secure, frictionless charging at private depot locations using the same WEX fleet card trusted for decades at fuel pumps.
With En Route for public charging, At-Home solutions for employees, and now Depot charging, WEX is the first fleet management company in North America to provide end-to-end EV charging payment solutions across all charging environments.
The expansion also aligns with broader industry trends. Fleet electrification is no longer a niche initiative but a strategic imperative as companies face increasing sustainability mandates, volatile fuel prices, and rising customer demand for greener operations. WEX’s ability to integrate payments, charging access, and energy management data into a unified ecosystem gives it a competitive edge in a rapidly evolving mobility landscape.
