Ferrari Receives FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation for Participation in FIA WEC

In anticipation of the Positive Innovation Award, set to be presented during the week of the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 15-16, 2024, Ferrari has achieved Three-Star level certification within the FIA Environmental Accreditation Framework programme.

The FIA Environmental Committee granted this prestigious certification to Ferrari – Ente Endurance and Corse Clienti for the Ferrari – AF Corse team’s involvement in the top class of the World Endurance Championship (WEC). The certification was awarded based on Ferrari’s implementation of a comprehensive management system designed to reduce the team’s environmental impact and measure its social and economic effects through various short-, medium-, and long-term actions.

These actions encompass a range of initiatives, including an internal waste collection system in Team Hospitality, the creation of guest areas at track events that promote walking, the use of digital tools such as the “MyFerrari App” to eliminate paper usage during FIA WEC events, the optimization of transport and logistics, and the reuse of materials for trackside setups.

Ferrari’s buildings and facilities, such as the headquarters of Endurance and Customer Racing, are designed to be cutting-edge in terms of environmental impact, with a focus on resource optimization in areas like air conditioning and lighting systems.

The Ferrari Group has integrated the team’s Sustainable Development Policy in endurance racing with the five pillars of its overall sustainability strategy, encompassing product and process innovations and interventions.

The Three-Star level certification follows the renewal of the ISO 20121 certification in April 2024, which is the international standard for sustainable event design and management. This certification, particularly relevant to Ferrari’s participation in the Hypercar class of the World Endurance Championship, is issued by TÜV NORD Italia. The Ferrari LMH Team first received this certification in April 2023.

Alessandra Todeschini, Head of Ferrari Endurance and Pista di Fiorano, commented: “We are proud to have received the Three-Star level certification of the FIA Environmental Accreditation Framework programme, an achievement that certifies our constant efforts to minimize the environmental impact of our activities.

This significant accreditation, along with the recent ISO 20121 certification for sustainable event design and management, reinforces our confidence in the quality of our ongoing projects and those we are planning for the future. These goals can only be achieved with the cooperation of our entire team.”
