Nissan Energy Launches New Network to Simplify On-the-Go EV Charging

Nissan is set to make owning and charging an electric vehicle (EV) simpler with the introduction of the NISSAN ENERGY Charge Network. This new system allows Nissan Ariya and future Nissan EV drivers to easily locate charging stations, view real-time charger availability, and pay for charging, all through the MyNISSAN app. The app streamlines EV ownership by integrating both vehicle management and public charging into one platform. Drivers can store a default payment method in the app and start a charging session at a compatible station with just a tap. This feature will be available to MyNISSAN app users by November 2024.

The NISSAN ENERGY Charge Network includes over 90,000 fast chargers across the U.S. Key partners in the network include Electrify America, Shell Recharge, ChargePoint, and EVgo, with plans to add more networks in the future.

Currently, Nissan LEAF owners can still locate charging stations via the NissanConnect EV and Services app, though the new network is not yet available for LEAF users.

The launch of this network marks Nissan’s continued effort to enhance the customer experience and simplify EV ownership. Both the LEAF and Ariya are part of Nissan’s EV Carefree+ customer care initiative.

Additionally, starting later this year, Nissan Ariya drivers will have access to a North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapter, allowing them to charge at compatible Tesla Supercharger locations, significantly increasing charging options. By 2025, Nissan plans to equip its EVs for the U.S. and Canadian markets with NACS ports.

EVs are central to Nissan’s vision for a sustainable future. Through its Arc mid-term business plan, the company aims to launch 16 new electrified models globally by the end of fiscal year 2026.

Nissan’s Ariya, the brand’s most advanced EV, offers up to 304 miles of EPA-estimated driving range (Venture+ trim) and features available e-4ORCE dual-motor all-wheel drive for added control. For 2024, the Ariya’s starting price was adjusted to $39,590, broadening its appeal. It has earned the 2024 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK designation (for models with a 63-kWh battery) and its e-4ORCE system was recognized in “Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems” for 2023.
