Is Your Business Ready to Go Electric? Discover Ford Pro’s New Tools
Ford Pro™, the commercial division of Ford Motor Company, has launched new digital tools, including E-Switch Assist, to help businesses seamlessly integrate electric vans and trucks into their fleets while achieving their operational goals.
E-Switch Assist: Assessing Your Electric Vehicle Readiness
The first step in transitioning to electric vehicles (EVs) is determining which vehicles in your fleet are ready to make the switch. A recent survey showed that, on average, gas and diesel vehicles still represent 58% of fleet compositions, with hybrids accounting for nearly 20%.1 E-Switch Assist helps businesses and government agencies assess their readiness to add electric models like the E-Transit van and F-150 Lightning pickup, pinpointing the best candidates for electrification. This complimentary web-based tool is now available in the U.S., UK, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Norway, and the Netherlands.
Utilizing advanced algorithms developed by the Ford Pro data science team, E-Switch Assist analyzes connected vehicle data to compare energy consumption between gas-powered vehicles and their electric counterparts. It considers various factors, including distance traveled, cargo load, vehicle efficiency, terrain, driver behavior, external climate, and cabin heating needs. The tool also estimates the number of daily charges required for both individual vehicles and entire fleets.
“Data-driven tools like E-Switch Assist are facilitating crucial conversations with our commercial clients about EV readiness. We regularly use it in consultations to help organizations evaluate whether electric trucks and vans are suitable for their needs,” said Nathan McDonald, EV Strategy and Brand Manager at Ford Pro. “These technologies not only assist in vehicle sales but also shift perceptions about the viability of electric vehicles for their operations, potentially saving them time and money.”
E-Switch Assist empowers businesses with insights to identify which parts of their fleet can transition to electric without disrupting operations. So far, the tool has assessed over 38,000 commercial vehicles, identifying that nearly 53% are potential candidates for electrification.2

If the assessment indicates readiness for electric vehicles, Ford Pro provides solutions to facilitate their addition, including commercial-grade chargers for homes and worksites, as well as telematics and software for efficient management.
