Allego (NYSE: ALLG) proudly announces its sponsorship of the historic Le Mans 2024 Road Trip. This groundbreaking expedition will feature 50 electric cars and an electric truck embarking on a memorable 1600 km journey from FDM Sjællandsringen, Denmark, to the renowned 24-hour race in Le Mans, France, commencing on June 12, 2024.
As the adoption of electric vehicles surges, concerns about range and charging infrastructure persist. The Le Mans Road Trip aims to challenge these perceptions by exclusively utilizing Allego’s extensive charging network across four countries, showcasing the reliability and efficiency of EV charging infrastructure for long-distance travel.
Mathieu Bonnet, CEO of Allego, expresses, “This initiative embodies Allego’s dedication to advancing sustainable mobility and expediting the transition to electric transport. We are proud to support this journey, which not only underscores the remarkable progress in electric mobility and charging infrastructure but also demonstrates the natural capability of EVs for long-distance travel thanks to our charging infrastructure.”
Organized by GodEnergi, specialists in charging infrastructure, the non-profit initiative “Klub GodEnergi” orchestrates the second annual electric road trip to Le Mans, covering 1600 km. Kasper Hjorth from GodEnergi comments, “As someone deeply involved in the electric vehicle industry, I aim to debunk the misconception that electric cars are unsuitable for long journeys. We’re here to challenge those limitations.”
This year’s electric caravan sees a significant expansion, with 120 participants from six countries, doubling participation compared to the previous year, reflecting the growing interest in electric vehicles across various sectors.
The diverse lineup of participating vehicles includes models from renowned brands like Audi, BMW, Fisker, Hyundai, Kia, Lotus, Mercedes, Polestar, Porsche, Skoda, Tesla, Volvo, Volkswagen, and Xpeng. Ford joins the convoy, showcasing their Mustang MACH-E and offering exclusive access to the new Ford Explorer at the Hotel van der Valk in Venlo, the Netherlands, on June 13th.
To showcase EV potential, a HeroCamper trailer and a 100% electric Volvo truck from Danfoss will join the convoy. The journey begins at FDM Sjællandsringen, with the first recharge stop at Danfoss’ headquarters in Nordborg, before heading southward towards Le Mans.
Upon reaching Le Mans, the caravan will establish ‘Camp Électrique’ powered entirely by electric cars, facilitating refrigeration and electric grilling. Viggo Energy estimates a reduction of approximately 17 tons of CO2 emissions compared to conventional vehicles, highlighting the environmental benefits of electric transport.
Viewers can track the journey in real-time on the Klub GodEnergi website via GPS monitoring, with live broadcasts available on Allego’s website and social media channels.
Allego’s sponsorship of the Le Mans Road Trip underscores its commitment to sustainable business practices, driving innovation and fostering the transition to an e-mobility future.
