Fisker Issues Voluntary Recall for Door Handle Concerns in 2023-2024 Model Year Vehicles

Fisker Inc. (“Fisker”), renowned for its commitment to crafting the world’s most emotive and sustainable electric vehicles, has announced a voluntary recall affecting 12,523 vehicles across North America and Europe. This action pertains to issues with the outer door handles on 2023-2024 Model Year Fisker Ocean vehicles.

In the United States, 8,204 vehicles are subject to recall, with 513 in Canada and 3,806 in Europe. Fisker estimates that approximately 2.5% of these vehicles may be affected by the identified defect.

The concern arises from potential malfunctioning of the door handles on the Fisker Ocean, which could result in them becoming stuck. Swift resolution of this issue is crucial to maintain the safety and convenience of vehicle access for passengers.

Fisker plans to conduct comprehensive inspections of all side door handles using specialized force checking tools provided by the external handle supplier. If any handle fails to meet specified criteria during this evaluation, it will be promptly replaced. This proactive approach aims to ensure that all door handles meet stringent safety and operational standards, thereby enhancing the overall reliability and functionality of the vehicle’s entry system.

Recall notifications will be published on the websites of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Transport Canada (TC). Fisker anticipates completing the inspection and repair process expeditiously. Dealer partners were informed of these actions on June 17, 2024, and owners will receive notifications by August 30, 2024
