In line with its commitment to corporate social responsibility, TKM is putting relentless efforts towards building vibrant communities, thus making a positive impact on the society. These efforts are further contributing to the sustainable development in the state and has been recognized by the Government of Karnataka during a prestigious event, – the ‘CSR Conclave – Education to Make a Social Impact,’ held recently in Bengaluru. TKM was honoured with a Certificate of Appreciation for its exceptional contribution in the development of the local community in the State of Karnataka.
During the event Mr. Sudeep S Dalvi, Senior Vice President, Director and Chief Communication Officer, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, received the Certificate of Appreciation from Hon’ble Higher Education Minister, Dr M C Sudhakar, in the presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister Mr. Siddaramaiah, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. D.K Shivakumar, Hon’ble School Education Minister Mr. Madhu Bangarappa, and Hon’ble Medical Education Minister Mr. Sharan Prakash Patil, Government of Karnataka
Since 2001, CSR has remained an integral part of TKM’s philosophy, with strong emphasis on scalability and sustainability, TKM has undertaken various initiatives centred around five key thematic areas: Education, Environment, Health & Hygiene, Road Safety, and Skill Development contributing to eight sustainable development goals. The CSR initiatives are carefully aligned with the needs of the community and the state, ensuring a meaningful and impactful contribution to society.
Key Highlights of CSR efforts till date include
Education: TKM focuses on early childhood care by strengthening capacity building to deliver quality education with the support of “Anganwadis”. Promoting inclusive education for special needs children and building modern school infrastructure in rural areas of Karnataka. The company through these efforts has provided a safe and conducive learning environment, positively impacting over 12,222 students in the last financial year and in total of 1,32,980 students since the start of the program.
Skill Development:Empowering youth with employable skills, prioritizing rural areas and supporting skill enhancement programs by developing auto industry culture through Govt Tool Room and Training Centres (GTTCs) and Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). These efforts have made a positive impact on over 1805 students, cumulatively. In addition, beyond CSR interventions to support economically challenged students the company is providing holistic training through *Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP), *Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI), *Toyota Koushalya courses cumulatively benefitting over *12,432 students.
Health & Hygiene: TKM’s commitment to healthcare has led to the establishment of a 30-bed Community Health Centre, with exclusive oxygen-generating plant in Bidadi, Karnataka, providing specialized care to the surrounding communities. Other interventions like school-based health and hygiene through the Toyota Shaale Arogya Program, installation of water purification units to provide clean drinking water, have positively impacted the health outcomes of the community. With its continuous efforts, TKM has reached to over 65,000 individuals during FY 2022-23 and cumulatively to over 11,16,365 individuals.
Environment Preservation: TKM has established an experiential environment learning center – Ecozone. Through this activity, TKM has fostered environmental conservation awareness on topics like water, energy, climate change biodiversity, underground ecology, and silent garden among school children benefitting over 10,050 students. In addition, activities such as Lake Rejuvenation, Green Me programme, and Solid Waste Management initiatives have created awareness and cumulatively reaching to over 45,529 students and community members in the State of Karnataka.
Road Safety: Reiterating its strong commitment towards Road Safety and instilling Safe Road Behaviour TKM initiated Toyota Safety Education Program for school students to promote road safety awareness and develop them as Road Safety Ambassadors. The company also implemented programs like Safety Model School to bring about a positive change in mindset in terms of their behaviour and response to road safety, Toyota Hackathon – a platform for students to develop digital road safety solutions, and safety training for airport taxi drivers. These activities have reached to 7,98,600 students and individuals.
In addition to the above ICARE is TKM’s flagship Employee Volunteering Programme. Under this initiative employees and families receive an opportunity to actively contribute to the community around them and bring about transformative change in the lives of community members. With the active participation of iCARE volunteers, the company has touched about 3500 members last financial year and cumulatively over 63,150 community members.

TKM’s CSR initiatives are driven by their sustainable community development model, wherein, TKM actively engages with communities to understand their unique needs, aspirations, and challenges. This allows the company to tailor make programs that address specific issues faced by each community, ensuring relevance, sustainability, and a lasting positive impact.
