Europe Becomes a Strategic Market for TVS Motor

Europe represents an increasingly important market in TVS Motor’s international business strategy. The company sees significant opportunities in electric mobility, premium scooters and performance-oriented motorcycles as European customers continue to explore new transportation solutions.

According to Peyman Kargar, President of International Business at TVS Motor Company, Europe is central to the company’s long-term international growth ambitions. He highlighted that successful expansion requires more than introducing competitive products. Understanding local customer expectations, developing reliable distribution channels and providing comprehensive aftersales support are equally important.

Over the past year, TVS Motor has concentrated on strengthening its European distribution network, improving dealer capabilities and preparing a product portfolio suited to regional riding conditions.

The company has already expanded its retail presence across several European countries. Italy was among the first markets targeted, followed by Spain and Portugal. TVS Motor currently has more than 100 retailers in Italy, while another 22 retailers are operational across Spain and Portugal.

The company has reported a 110% increase in sales in Italy over the past year, reflecting encouraging market momentum. Further expansion is planned in France and Germany as TVS Motor continues developing its European commercial operations.

These investments are intended to establish a sustainable presence rather than simply generate short-term sales. By strengthening dealer relationships, customer engagement and service capabilities, the company aims to improve brand recognition and build long-term customer confidence.

Four Models Target Different European Mobility Requirements

The four production-ready models presented at EICMA 2026 demonstrate TVS Motor’s strategy of serving multiple customer segments.

The company’s electric portfolio addresses different transportation requirements, ranging from affordable city commuting to premium electric performance. Meanwhile, the RTR 125 expands its conventional motorcycle offering into Europe’s lightweight sports motorcycle category.

TVS Motor’s experience in electric mobility provides an important foundation for this strategy. The company has sold more than one million electric scooters globally and invested over $1 billion in electric vehicle and battery ecosystems.

These investments have helped develop capabilities in battery technology, electric powertrains, software integration and large-scale manufacturing. TVS Motor is now applying this experience to products designed for international customers.

TVS Orbiter: Practical Electric Mobility for Everyday Commuting

Developed for urban and suburban transportation, the M1-S combines maxi-scooter styling with an electric powertrain. Its design focuses on delivering a more substantial riding experience while maintaining the convenience associated with electric two-wheelers.

The scooter is equipped with a 4.2 kWh battery and an electric motor delivering 12.5 kW of peak power. This configuration enables a maximum speed of 105 km/h, making it suitable for a wider range of urban and suburban journeys.

Battery placement is another important element of the vehicle’s engineering. The battery is positioned low within the floorboard to help optimise the centre of gravity and improve overall riding stability.

The M1-S also offers practical storage capacity, with a 26-litre compartment designed to accommodate a full-face helmet.

Charging performance is another key consideration. The battery can charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 75 minutes.

In addition, integrated LTE connectivity provides connected functionality without requiring riders to depend on a paired smartphone.

Through the M1-S, TVS Motor is targeting European customers who want to transition from conventional petrol-powered maxi-scooters to electric alternatives without sacrificing everyday practicality or performance.

TVS X: Premium Electric Performance and Advanced Connectivity

The TVS X occupies the premium end of the company’s electric scooter portfolio. It has been developed for customers who prioritise performance, advanced technology, distinctive styling and connected riding experiences.

Positioned in Europe’s A1 category, the TVS X demonstrates TVS Motor’s approach to combining electric powertrain engineering with premium vehicle features.

The European-specification model features 14-inch front and rear wheels, an aluminium frame and dual-channel ABS. These components are intended to support handling, stability and rider confidence.

Its electric motor delivers 11.7 kW of peak power. The scooter can accelerate from 0 to 40 km/h in approximately 2.5 seconds and achieve a maximum speed of 110 km/h.

Technology is another major part of the TVS X package. The scooter features a 10.2-inch panoramic touchscreen that integrates Android Auto and full-map navigation.

Independent LTE connectivity supports its digital functions and provides a connected experience without depending entirely on a smartphone connection.

The TVS X highlights the company’s investment in software integration and premium electric vehicle development. It also provides an opportunity for TVS Motor to compete in a more technology-focused segment of Europe’s electric two-wheeler market.

By combining acceleration, advanced connectivity and a dedicated vehicle architecture, the company aims to attract customers looking for a premium alternative to conventional urban scooters and motorcycles.

TVS RTR 125: Bringing Lightweight Sports Motorcycling to Europe

Alongside its three electric models, TVS Motor introduced the RTR 125, expanding its European motorcycle portfolio.

The model has been developed for Europe’s A1 licence category, targeting younger riders and customers entering the sports motorcycle segment.

The RTR 125 draws on the company’s experience in performance engineering and motorsport. TVS Racing, established in 1982, has played an important role in developing the company’s motorcycle engineering capabilities and performance-oriented product philosophy.

The new motorcycle aims to translate this experience into an accessible lightweight category. Its development focuses on responsive performance, agility and rider control, while maintaining the practicality needed for regular transportation.

The RTR 125 will also serve as an entry point into TVS Motor’s broader European motorcycle portfolio.

The company’s existing international range includes the RR 310, RTR 310, Ronin and RTX 300, covering different customer requirements across sport, roadster and adventure motorcycle categories.

The RTX 300, which was introduced at EICMA 2025, is also scheduled to reach European dealerships. Its arrival will further strengthen TVS Motor’s position in the adventure touring segment.

Together, these motorcycles provide the company with opportunities to build relationships with customers at different stages of motorcycle ownership.

Global Engineering Network Supports European Expansion

TVS Motor’s European strategy is supported by its international engineering, design and manufacturing ecosystem.

India remains a central location for the company’s product development, advanced engineering, manufacturing and quality operations.
