Recently, GWM held a launch event themed “Redefining the POWER” in Mexico City to introduce the GWM POER, marking the brand’s fifth model in the Mexican market following the HAVAL H6, HAVAL JOLION, ORA 03, and TANK 300 HEV. This launch further extends GWM’s global sales network and boosts the global popularity of its pickups.
The event attracted over 400 attendees, including local automotive and lifestyle media, bloggers, GWM dealers, business partners, POER owners, and GWM Mexico executives. Participants engaged in the launch event and test drive activities, celebrating a significant milestone for GWM in Mexico. The event highlighted the POER pickup’s versatility by showcasing it in various scenarios such as urban environments, forests, off-road terrains, and sand dunes, all accompanied by lively music to enhance the experience. Test drives on smooth urban roads and challenging terrains like pits, steep slopes, climbs, and water crossings allowed attendees to experience the POER’s powerful performance firsthand. Additionally, a recreational area featured an LMB baseball experience zone, blending GWM vehicles with LMB sports for guests’ enjoyment.
Before its official launch, the POER underwent extensive localized road testing to adapt to Mexico’s road conditions, traffic regulations, driving habits, and environmental factors, ensuring it meets local drivers’ preferences. The POER models available include passenger and commercial versions, with both four-wheel drive and two-wheel drive options. As a mid-size pickup, the POER measures 5.4 meters in length, 1.93 meters in width, and 1.86 meters in height, with a 3.2-meter wheelbase for stable handling and comfortable driving. Its 2.0L turbocharged engine, paired with an 8-speed transmission, balances power, economy, and reliability, supporting a payload capacity of 1050 kg and a towing capacity of 2250 kg, making it suitable for commercial needs.
Yao Bin, GWM Mexico Country Manager, shared the development history and global performance of GWM pickups with guests, media, and users. Since producing its first pickup in 1996, GWM has focused on innovation and technological development, selling over 2.6 million pickups worldwide. The company has led the Chinese market for 26 consecutive years with a nearly 50% market share, where one out of every two pickups sold is a GWM. The GWM POER, as a high-end brand, caters to user needs with its commercial and passenger variants, covering mid-size, large, and full-size categories, including fuel, electric, and plug-in hybrid options. Within five years, it has gained the trust of 600,000 global users, becoming a star brand in the high-end pickup market.
