FORMULA 2 AND FORMULA 3; ONE LAST PUSH BEFORE THE 3; THE SUMMER BREAK

The last race weekend for the three FDA motorists before the usual August break for the Formula 2 and Formula 3 series takes place at the iconic Gym circuit.

For numerous motorists and indeed race suckers, the Gym- Francorchamps circuit is the most specialized and thrilling venue in the racing world. Its seven kilometres feature some of the best known corners in motor sport, including Eau Rouge, Raidillon, Pouhon, Stavelot and Blanchimont, each offering their own different and unique challenge. Oliver Bearman and Arthur Leclerc in Formula 2 and Dino Beganovic in Formula 3 will all be looking to go into the break on a high note.

Good recollections. Last weekend at the Hungaroring, Bearman was back on the tribune for the first time in three rounds, with a third place in the Sprint Race, although tyre operation issues meant he’d a tough time of it in the point Race, finishing 12th. In Budapest, Leclerc had a lattice problem spotted in qualifying, after which his pace in the two races was good, indeed if he was hindered by starting down the reverse on a track where catching is further than tricky. In Gym, Bearman and Leclerc are keen to for results that match the eventuality they’ve easily shown so far. And at this track, race pace is more important than the starting position. Oliver will have good recollections of Gym- Francorchamps as it was then last time that he took his demoiselle Formula 3 palm, after which he really flew for the rest of the season.

Dino. This round could also be an important bone
for Beganovic in Formula 3. He’d an unlucky time of it in Silverstone before fighting back in Hungary, where he came second in the point Race. This Gym- Francorchamps round is actually the penultimate one of the season and he’ll be looking to be in the top three when the series heads for its homestretch in Monza.
